Bacon by the Box is your one stop shop for all your food shopping needs with delivery from Ireland to France, Belgium and many other European countries. With a focus on Irish & British food products that are not widely available in other countries, BBTB aims to fulfil that taste of home with an easy to use online shopping experience. 

The product offering includes an array of fresh meat and dairy products, as well as a wide range of pantry products. New products are regularly added to the website. Vegetarian and vegan items are also available in their updated catalogue.

The Challenge

Our client, a thriving e-commerce business operating from Ireland, formerly the UK initially approached us with a set of challenges that were hindering the full potential of their online store. They were utilising Shopify as their Content Management System (CMS), a platform renowned for its ease-of-use. However, the team at Bacon by the Box were grappling with a series of issues that demanded a more tailored solution. After several years of operating, they required enhancements that made managing large quantities of orders as well as complete overhaul of the design to enhance user-experience.

Objectives

Upon our initial engagements with the client, it became evident that their existing e-commerce setup was acting as a bottleneck, limiting their growth potential and sales. Recognising the need for a new solution, our shared objectives were crafted to not only address immediate challenges but also set the stage for sustained success. A decision was made to migrate the online store to WordPress/Woocommerce.

The primary goal was to liberate the client from the constraints of their existing setup, especially within the Shopify environment. We aimed to develop a solution that would empower the client with greater flexibility, customisation capabilities, and freedom from the limitations they had faced

Recognising the client's aspiration for growth, our focus extended beyond resolving immediate issues. We set out to implement custom developments that would not only enhance the website's functionality but also strategically boost traffic and conversions. The objective was to create an online environment that not only attracted more visitors but converted them into loyal customers. Our SEO team also got involved from the initial stages to assist in optimising the website and maximising its potential to perform in SERPS (Search Engine Results Pages).

We also redeveloped a number of existing customisations and made further enhancements to the backend to facilitate smooth daily operations.

Our clients were thrilled to unveil their revamped website, and the response from their customer base was nothing short of enthusiastic. The user-interface and usability enhancements were particularly well-received, generating excitement among users. Custom developments proved to be a game-changer, simplifying the lives of regular customers by enabling the seamless combination of fresh and dry orders for a single delivery. The introduction of a rewards system, allowing customers to earn points for referrals and purchases, contributed to increased engagement and loyalty. The streamlined checkout process received widespread appreciation, further enhancing the overall user experience and solidifying the success of the website relaunch.

In our commitment to ensuring long-term success for Bacon by the Box, our collaboration extended beyond the website development phase. Currently engaged in an ongoing SEO partnership, we are actively working to enhance the online visibility of the newly launched website. Addressing technical errors that surfaced on analysing the previous development, we resolved issues that could potentially impact search engine rankings. Recognising the need for optimisation, our team undertook a comprehensive site audit, optimised product listings, created and refined content, conducted keyword research, and implemented strategic internal linking. A significant discovery was the presence of numerous pages not indexed by Google, prompting us to streamline the site's index and improve its overall presence. To facilitate accurate measurement of performance, we created a new GA4 account and implemented tracking mechanisms, allowing us to gauge the impact of our SEO efforts and continually refine strategies for increased qualified traffic.
